Father's Day Recipe: Chocolate Covered Bacon

Chocolate Covered Bacon Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 16 bacon strips (about 1½  pounds, thick cut)
  • 3 (4 oz.) bars of good semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • Optional toppings like crystallized ginger, chopped pecans, toasted coconut, sea salt, or cayenne pepper
  • Cookie tray
  • Parchment paper or wax paper

Directions:

  1. Cook the bacon until it is crisp, and then set it aside to cool.
  2. Melt the semisweet chocolate and the butter in a double boiler. If you prefer to use a microwave, cook for 30 seconds at a time and stir in between until completely melted and combined.
  3. Cover a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  4. Cut each bacon strip in half and dip each piece into the chocolate mixture to coat.
  5. Set on parchment paper and sprinkle with the toppings of your choice. Repeat until you’ve used up all your bacon.
  6. Put the cookie sheet in the fridge for at least a half hour to set.

Once your chocolate covered bacon is done, stack five strips together and wrap them with brown paper and a bow of twine for a cute presentation. Deliver a batch to each of the important dads in your life to make their Father’s Day extra special. Enjoy!
